Help!

Okay, so I just added two more links over there on the side, and I have to ask for some help because I'm sick of this: How in the world do I NOT have the spaces under almost every single link? No one else has those! I seriously don't know what I'm doing wrong. I have retyped it several times, I have read Blogspot's instructions thoroughly, but I can't get it right.

Oh, and how do I add links in a post? Like the rest of you do? I mean, say I mention something about Alyson, how do I make it so that you can click on her name and get to her blog? Something like that. I can do pictures, so is it the same basic concept?

I'm so not a computer person!

I don't know about the spacing thing unless you have hard returns between your links in your template. But as far as the links in your post: there is a button above your compose box. It looks like a world with little handlebars on it. Highlight the word you want to be your link. "Alyson" then click the button. It will open up a little box, then type (or copy and paste) the web address you want. Its so much easier to show then explain in words, but hopefully you get it. (I'm sure someone else will be able to explain it better). And don't think you're that computer illiterate, you're here(blog world, email world) aren't you?

Sariah...thanks for stopping by my blog, I would be flattered if you wanted to add me to your blogroll...but only if I can add you to mine *wink* I might be able to help you with the formatting...if you go into your settings of your blog, click on template and copy your template then put it into a word document...if you want to send it to me I can check it out and do any fixes you might like including the blogroll spacing problem. Just give me a shout if you'd like my help. NO PROB. Great blog...!!

you could always use html code, but I don't know how to explain how right now (i'm sooo sick....). I recommend the book html for dummies. I read it. now I can do like 5 html things, but it makes me look all smart ;)

Thanks for the help, ladies. You have all been a huge help. I will send you my template, Kris, as soon as I figure out your email address!=) Erica, I'll have to check that book out. If I were still in Idaho, I'd just call Vinnie and make him come over and do stuff for me, but he's too far away for that. Dana, you explained it perfectly. Thanks!

I know Kris is going to help you with the link spacing, but one of the things you could do is look at how the first three links are different from all the others. There will be some small piece of formatting that is different (usually something like whether it starts on a new line or not).

a world with handle bars, how come mine doesn't have that? I always have to go back to my previous post and find the HTML code.

Alyson, do you have "Show Compose Mode" set to Yes in your Settings? (It's on the Basic tab sheet.)

From the Blogger dashboard you would go into Settings then click on Basic at the top left. On that page, scroll down until you see the heading "Global Settings". Make sure "Show Compose Mode for all your blogs?" is set to Yes.

That gives you a WYSIWIG editor to work with, so you can switch between editing HTML code and editing a formatted page.

Hi Sariah,

I just looked at the HTML source for the page (by choosing view source in IE) an I think I figured it out.

I have had to use {} instead of <> since the HTML li tag can't be used in a comment.

A lot of your links end with an {li} tag and not a {/li} tag. The / signifies the end of the list entry. If you have an {li} at then end of a link then that creates a new list entry and so you get the blank lines.

So, just make sure every link entry begins with an {li} and ends with a {/li} and you will probably get rid of all those blanks.

Mike, you rock! Thank you soooooo much! (And can I just say... boy do I feel stupid for not realizing that one little thing. I don't know how many times I've looked at it, typed it over and over, yet still made the same mistake.)

Everyone, snaps for Mike.
